In 1997 the 理查德T. 卡斯特罗 Professorship was initiated to foster multiculturalism, diversity and academic excellence at Metropolitan State University of 丹佛. In 2021 the name changed to 理查德T. and Virginia M. 卡斯特罗 Distinguished 访问ing Professorship to recognize the labor and passion that Virginia 卡斯特罗 brought to the Chicano movement in 丹佛 with Richard. The professorship brings renowned Latinx scholars, artists and leaders of distinction to MSU 丹佛 to conduct classes, 研讨会, performances and lectures for students, 教师, staff and the larger 丹佛 community.
