Dear Roadrunners,

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific terrorist attacks against Muslim communities in two mosques in Christchurch, 新西兰, 上周晚些时候. These senseless mass shootings, perpetrated in sacred spaces during prayer, have left many of us feeling grief-stricken and distressed.

On behalf of Metropolitan State University of 丹佛, I want to extend my full support to our Muslim students, faculty and staff affected by these violent and divisive acts. I also want to express solidarity with those in 新西兰 and the broader Muslim faith community.

To beg在 healing process, we will hold a community gathering on Wednesday from 1-3pm Center for Multicultural Excellence and Inclusion (JSSB 237). 罗伯特·哈赞博士.D., will share reflections and lead an open conversation. A vegetarian lunch will also be served.

In light of tragedies such as these, please remember that the 密歇根州立大学丹佛 咨询 Center offers grief counseling and support to students, faculty and staff. The 咨询 Center is in Tivoli 651 and can be reached by phone at 303-615-9988. After-hours mental health support is also available at 303-615-9911.

Diversity is one of our core values at 密歇根州立大学丹佛 and, when we come together as an inclusive community, we stand in direct opposition to the forces of hate and intolerance that threaten to pull us apart. In a time such as this, let us not forget how deeply we care about each other and our commitment to co-creating a welcoming, respectful and unified campus.

真诚地,
Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
